The MASUNAGA G.M.S. Limited 2013 is consisted of Solid 18 karat Gold, Beta-Titanium and Bamboo. This limited edition frame uses the world’s first welding technology between solid 18 karat gold and Beta-Titanium. The rims and the saddle bridge are fashioned from titanium overlaid with bamboo. The frame’s signature round shape is inspired by the frame Masunaga Optical presented to the Emperor of Japan in 1933, and designed with a modern essence and the most advanced technology.

Masunaga Optical and Dan Deutsch Optical Outlook showcase the unique and compelling tales of nine L.A.-based artists, all at the top of their craft. We talk to a painter, a sculptor, a jewelry designer, a chef, a welder, and more, to hear what craftsmanship means to them, and we go behind the scenes to learn about these craftsmen and women and their work.

Masunaga Optical has partnered up with Megane Guinness in an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest line of spectacles in history and in the process help rebuild the areas of Japan most affected by the recent disasters.
The organization would like to promote the city of Sabae to the world. 90% of Japanese domestically produced eyewear is manufactured in Sabae city, Fukui, but many people are not aware of it. Megane Guinness decided to challenge the Guinness World Record to promote that Sabae=Megane(Spectacles) and Megane=Sabae.
On May 5th, 2011, tens of thousands of donated optical frames from around the world will be connected in Sabae city in a single line with a target of 6,600 feet (1.25 miles). The current Guinness World Record is 5,775 feet. To reach the goal, the organization will need to collect 20,000 frames.
All donated frames will be distributed to people in need. Masunaga Optical is hoping its frame donation will help set the new world record as well as provide a new start for many families.
